2013 BBB Torch Awards – Winners announced
HONOLULU (April 18, 2013) – Hawaii’s Better Business Bureau® (BBB) today announced the recipients of the 2013 BBB Torch Awards before a large crowd of business, civic and nonprofit leaders. Child Family Service, PoP-A-Lock Honolulu, HiEmployment and Veracity Payment Solutions were named winners by this year’s judges. Steve Sue, founder of BizGym.com and Lemonade Alley was honored with the Keauhou Award, which celebrates innovation and entrepreneurship.
“Companies and organizations who are doing right by their consumers, employees, vendors and, in the case of public charities, donors, need to be honored and celebrated; the BBB Torch Awards allows us to do just that,” said Dwight Kealoha, CEO of Hawaii’s BBB. “Trustworthy and ethical business practices are a win-win for everyone. This year’s BBB Torch Awards finalists and winners demonstrate that upholding the BBB’s ethical standards is a hallmark of successful companies and organizations.”
2013 BBB Torch Award recipients in each category are;
Public Charity – Child & Family Service.
This organization was cited for its clear understanding of its mission and integration into the community by embracing the total family from keiki to Kupuna.
Other finalists included Assistance League of Hawaii and Junior Achievement Hawaii.
Small Business – PoP-A-Lock Honolulu
This small business was recognized not only for their commitment to the BBB Standards for Trust, but for the programs they deliver to Hawaii’s Community.
Other finalists in the Small Business category were Kama’aina Metals & Jewelry and Global Village.
Medium Business – HiEmployment
HiEmployment impressed the judged with its incredible display of corporate culture and values. Their in house practices and client testimony speaks volumes about this organizations commitment to the BBB Standards of Trust.
Staffing Solutions of Hawaii and publishing firm Element Media were the other category finalists.
Large Business – Veracity Payment Solutions.
Veracity Payment Solutions was honored for its transparency and how they have cultivated an organization built within an integrity and ethical based framework.
Other finalists in the Large Business category were Honolulu Home Loans and Ruby Tuesday Hawaii.
Steve Sue received the BBB Keauhou award. The award celebrates innovation and entrepreneurship here in Hawaii. Ke au hou translates into The New Era or The New Wave.
