Hawaii's BBB is Proud to be Number Three!
On BBB Secure Your ID Day, Hawaii had both the third most traffic and tons of material shredded by any BBB!
At the October 17, 2009 event, 638 vehicles delivered 12.7 tons of personal documents, CDs and floppy disks for free, on-the-spot shredding.
Hawaii’s BBB was third to the Wisconsin and Arkansas BBBs for total tons of material shredded, and number three after Wisconsin and the BBB Serving Northwest Florida in total traffic.
Mahalo to everyone on Oahu who responded to BBB’s offer to help protect your identity.
Everyone who brought items to be shredded also had a chance to pick up some great tips for identity theft protection and enter to win a personal shredder.
Congratulations to Laurie Z. and Gary L.
Each received a heavy duty personal shredder courtesy of Black & Decker and Hawaii's BBB.
BBB Secure Your ID Day is a public education and community service event aimed at preventing identity theft, a growing problem in Hawaii. In 2008, there were 711 identity theft complaints from Hawaii residents—a 21 percent increase from the year before.
Funding for Hawaii's BBB Secure Your ID Day provided by the BBB Foundation of Hawaii.
Mahalo to our local shredding partners:
Thank you to event volunteers from Bank of Hawaii, a BBB community sponsor.
